Eligible travelers can transit Australia without a visa for up to 8 hours if they stay in the international transit lounge. If you clear immigration, stay longer, or change airports, you need an ETA, eVisitor or a free Transit visa (subclass 771).
If it’s refused
Home Affairs notifies a refusal in writing, with the reasons and whether you can ask for a review. You can apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) instead.
